Untact consumption era. The correspondence strategy of the Food industry in Korea.

A new era brought by Corona; the Paradigm and the future of Korea Food changes.

The Coronavirus 19 had severe effects on the Korea economy and millions of people are suffering from these situations. One of the effects is Strengthening the concept of hygiene in individuals and communities. Its changes in lifestyle and consumption patterns of consumers after Coronavirus 19. Due to changes in the food industry, the customers prefer processed foods, long-term preserved foods, frozen foods, sterilized foods and dry foods. And also, customers prefer to eat alone or home cooked meals due to home working  and social distancing. The online purchase and delivery is increasing as untact consumption and minimizing face to face contact consumption. They are observing personal hygiene and disinfection of the surrounding environment. As health and immune management are recognized as essential elements in life, the demand of functional health foods has increased.

According to the interest in functional health products increases, the Korean government considered the direction of strengthening and mitigating food safety and functional claim management.

First of all, the Korean government is trying to unify the food safety standards of the three countries; Korea, China and Japan from July, 2020.

In order to expand the export of domestic food and strengthen the safety management of imported food. They will promote a food safety project in Asia and build the food safety management council to prepare for this project.in Korea until 2022, and to this project, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDA) is planning to establish a food safety management consultative group of Korea, China and Japan as preparatory work.

In 2022, it plans to start developing integrated food safety management standards together.

Second, the MFDA will extend the individual customized service of functional food after the 2 years test operation with 7 companies. The individual customized service will progress by checking the personal habits, health conditions and genomic information(DTC). And also, The 7 companies possible to pack the functional food as subdivision sales with non-medical consultation. The Korea consumers can purchase customized products that combine various products by recommending health functional foods essential to their body.

Subdivision sales are limited to six formulations such as tablets, capsules, pills, flakes, bars and jelly that have little quality changes when opened, and are only allowed in the divided equipment can be hygienically subdivided and packed.

Product recommendation through health and nutrition counseling can only be done by experts such as pharmacists and nutritionists in stores to secure consumer confidence.

The Korea food industry will attempt to develop functional food business In the next two years with new Paradigm  is “For Me”, ”Healthy Premium” and “Immediate Satisfaction”.
