High blood pressure is no longer a stranger to many countries around the world including Vietnam. According the World Health Organization (WHO), 3 out of 10 adults has high blood pressure issue worldwide. As for Vietnam, 1 out of 4 adults has high blood pressure. This has contributed 91,000 deaths per year in Vietnam and makes 21% of all deaths in the country.
The factors causing the high blood pressure in Vietnam are lifestyle change, limited healthy food choices and increase of stress level in urban areas. According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Health in 2015, around 60% has not been diagnosed and about 80% has not been treated out of 12 million people living with high blood pressure.
Persistent high blood pressure could lead to heart disease, heart attack, stroke, heart failure, kidney disease and vascular dementia.
