WHAT IS METABOLAID®?

Metabolaid® is the result of more than 7 years of scientific research in both animal models as well as clinical studies. This studies were performed in collaboration with renown experts: Molecular and Cellular Biology Institute and Applied Biology Department of Miguel Hernandez University (UMH), Analytical Chemistry Department of the University of Granada, Biomedical Research Unit of the University Hospital of Sant Joan (IISPV) and University Rovira i Virgili. Only with great scientific rigor can such a high quality and efficient product be produced, as is the case of MetabolAid®

HOW DOES
METABOLAID®
WORK?

HOW DOES
METABOLAID®
WORK?

Metabolaid® inhibits fat accumulation in the adipose tissue and liver.

Metabolaid® acts upon the adipose tissue by inhibiting triglyceride accumulation, as well as increase the adipocyte´s metabolism (fat cells) by activating AMPK. Also, fat accumulation is reduced in the liver.

The major molecular components that comprise Metabolaid® are verbascoside (from the lemon verbena), anthocyanins (especially delphinidin - 3 - sambubioside of the hibiscus), and phenolic acids, among others. This combination of components acts synergistically, enhancing their effect more so than if they were taking individually.

The various studies that have been performed with Metabolaid® have shown that this ingredient presents the following properties:

· Activation of AMPK (AMP-activated protein) which acts as a master metabolic switch. The activated form of AMPK activates mechanisms in the muscles to transform glucose and fat into energy. In this manner, the body uses its energy reservoirs over other sources, making Metabolaid an efficient "fat burner!

· Adipogenesis inhibition by modulating PI3-K/Akt and ERK pathways.

· Reduce blood viscosity (and therefore reducing blood pressure) by inactivating cyclooxygenase/prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase.

· Vasodilation by relaxing the vascular endothelium and inhibiting calcium influx.

· Inhibition of ACE (angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitor) by stimulating angiogenesis.

WHAT IS METABOLIC SYNDROME?

Metabolic syndrome comprises a group of risk factors that affect the normal metabolic functioning of our body.

Its prevalence is growing at an alarming rate worldwide due to increased physical inactivity, unhealthy eating habits, and alcohol/tobacco consumption, among other reasons. With time, these conditions can become chronic, and give rise to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, liver damage and cancer.

Its name includes “metabolic” since the risk factors (normally due to unhealthy habits, such as a sedentary lifestyle, inadequate nutrition intake, and alcohol/drug consumption) affect the biochemical pathways of the body, which with time and become chronic and give rise to the diseases previously commented.

Metabolic syndrome is not an actual disease, but a series of unhealthy habits, or in some cases a hereditary metabolic condition, which, if not corrected, can eventually become irreversible.

WHAT IS METABOLIC SYNDROME?
WHAT IS SATIETY?

WHAT IS SATIETY?

Satiety is the state of the body where the individual feels full of food and does not require to eat anymore.

Appetite is controlled by a series of hormones released by the adipose tissue, gut, liver and brain. Hunger is activated through the release of the hormone ghrelin from the gut, which travels through the bloodstream to a region in the brain called the hypothalamus. Soon after the individual begins eating, the gut releases a number of other hormones, called glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1), peptide YY (PYY) and cholestocystokinin (CCK), which travel to the hypothalamus and induce satiety. Also, the adipose tissue releases leptin, another appetite-suppressing hormone.

Ironically, leptin, despite being a satiety-inducing hormone, is at high levels in the bloodstream of overweight and obese individuals. This is due to the fact that there is a larger percentage of body fat in these individuals, which release more hormone, as well as an impaired signaling system in the hypothalamus, which requires a higher concentration of this hormone in the bloodstream in order to induce satiety. Therefore, for these individuals, the signals that tell the brain to stop eating are hampered; consequently, they overeat. Thankfully, this alteration is reversible, returning to normal when the individual reaches their normal weight.

However, when an individual goes through a weight loss program, there are a number of metabolic readjustments which must be taken into account, and until they are completed the individual is at risk of regaining the lost weight, or even gaining more weight than what they had before! This is due to the body responding to the lower caloric intake by increasing ghrelin activation, hence inducing hunger, while decreasing resting metabolic rate and energy efficiency (therefore you burn less energy). This is the body´s natural response, as a survival mechanism to induce food intake while conserving energy. In order to compensate this, besides lowering caloric intake, it is necessary to increase the metabolic rate, through exercise. Also, a high protein, high fiber diet helps to reduce energy storage while helping suppress appetite.

In this sense, Metabolaid® can act as a helping hand, by increasing satiety, helping you eat less, while decreasing energy storage. Also, it has a strong “fat burner,” helping you lose weight faster.

By being persistent, avoiding the cravings, adopting a healthy diet with regular physical activity, you can soon achieve your goal in losing weight, and thanks to Metabolaid®, without feeling hungry.

OBSERVED RESULTS

OBSERVED RESULTS

The clinical studies demonstrate that Metabolaid® is an ideal product for overweight individuals that also present other metabolic conditions such as hyperglycemia, hypercholesterol / hypertriglyceridemia, and/or high blood pressure, that wish to improve their health and quality of life.

The consumption of Metabolaid® can help lose weight and normalize cholesterol/triglyceride/glucose levels and blood pressure, while also feeling less hungry. In this manner, Metabolaid® helps consumers follow a diet plan and increase their motivation and adherence to improve their health and quality of life.

Volunteers who followed a controlled diet and performed a light activity (30-minute walk per day), while taking either Metabolaid® or a placebo. After 60 days, with follow-ups at day 30 and 60, the placebo group presented a number of improvements, including weight loss (2 kg on average after 60 days), body fat content and cholesterol. However, the volunteers taking Metabolaid® further reduced these values, as well as the other parameters analyzed. Furthermore, an increased satiety effect was observed in the volunteers taking Metabolaid®, which was perceived as early as 15 days after consuming the ingredient (analyzed using the VAS questionnaire). In this manner, the volunteers could more easily follow the diet plan, without feeling hungry, and with a more positive attitude (measured using the SF-36 quality of life questionnaire).

HOW EXCESS WEIGHT IS AFFECTING
HEALTH GLOBALLY

Obesity is currently one of the fastest-growing pandemics in the work, whose prevalence has doubled since 1980. By this rate, it is estimated that in certain countries, such as the US and UK, about half of the adults will be categorized as obese by 2030. Excess weight increases the risk to develop some of the most common and life-threatening health problems, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes and certain types of cancers. In general, these risk factors are a consequence of poor eating habits (excess sugar intake and saturated fats) and low physical activity, although there are certain genetic conditions or medications that can make the individual more prone to have metabolic syndrome.

Approximately 4 million people (2.8 million in Europe) die every year due to complications associated with excess weight. In Europe, over half of adult Europeans are overweight, and 1 in 5 are obese.

In the EU, the sanitary cost for weight-related complications is 70 billion euros per year, comprising 5% (7% in Spain) of total sanitary costs. An obese individual is 36% more “expensive” for healthcare costs than a normal-weight individual, reaching 60% when metabolic syndrome is also present.

METABOLAID® APP

Once the consumer purchases the product and downloads the app, the application will help the consumer monitor their daily habits (eating hours and frequency, sleep) as well as allow the connection to other wearable devices to detect health-related parameters (heart rate, steps taken, body weight).

For example, Metabolaid is known to have a significant effect in controlling a consumer´s appetite. Therefore, the consumer will be able to detect changes in their diet (such as avoiding mid-meal snacks, or reduce food intake) even before they would otherwise notice if they did not use the mobile application.

Also, the app will measure the consumer´s motivation with the product and their subsequent adherence to lifestyle changes. The latter will be assessed in the form of questions regarding their mood and how they feel at certain moments of the day.

Therefore, the Metabolaid app combines consumer appreciation of the product, changes in lifestyle habits and digital tracking, giving the users a personalized, exclusive connection with the product, and ultimately a more detailed control over their overall health.
