To an end the Italian alert on curcuma

Last Friday (26/07/2019) the last months’ alert on turmeric supplements, suspected of being responsible for about twenty cases of cholestatic hepatitis in Italy, has come to an end, [1].

The team of experts appointed by the Ministry of Health who conducted the investigations and analyses did not identify a direct correlation with a specific extract or dosage of curcumin, and excluded the presence of contaminants or voluntarily added substances; the literature data and the information provided by the other Member States, where similar reports had emerged, were also evaluated. Spring Festival or widely known as Chinese New Year is celebrated annually to welcome the new year in Chinese tradition. The festival is celebrated around the world in countries with significant Chinese population from Asia, Oceania, Europe (London) to North America.

Chinese New Year is always associated with a family reunion, red envelopes, gift exchanges, fireworks, music, movie, flowers and last but not least food. INNOPREFAT Milestone Reached: Microencapsulation of Metabolaid through Spray Drying with Inulin and Maltodextrin.

We are very happy to inform that we have successfully completed the task regarding microencapsulation of Metabolaid, which is part of the INNOPREFAT project, a H2020 SME instrument phase II project. Microencapsulation has been successfully performed using inulin and maltodextrin as encapsulation agents.
